Abingdon Dragon Race

Just a reminder to all Abindon residents that this weekend should have been the 13th Annual Dragon Boat Race. This year following heavy rain the River is too high to allow the race to proceed so the event has been postponed.

The race, organised by Abingdon Vesper Rotary Club, takes place on the River Thames and consists of 30 narrow boats racing along a 250m stretch of the Thames. The boats are decorated in Chinese style dragon and manned by a 16 strong crew with paddles, plus the essential drummer to strike the beat.
